TCI loses to Panama on the second day of Division 2 cricket in the Bahamas Winning the toss, Panama elected to bat only to have Brazils opening bowler, Rubabul Islam remove its two openers for just 26 runs. Skipper Irfan Tarajia and Soyab Chohan steadied the ship with a useful 56-run partnership. Rajesh Ahir then produced a magnificent innings of 79 runs in 69 balls and with good support from Munaf Kachhalia (41), the two ensured that Panama set a respectable target for its opposition, closing the innings with the side on 291 all out and a ball remaining. Rudyard Hartmann again had a good day with the ball capturing 3-57 while Ravindra Chanchlani took 3-36.
The Brazilian batting attack looked fairly respectable today with openers Greigor Caisley (49) and Guilherme Lefèvre (28) putting on a 73-run partnership for the first wicket. Deodat Randolph top scored with 64 not out batting at number four, but none of the other batsman could reach double figures and Brazil was dismissed for 180 all out in the 39th over. Nilesh Bhakta was Panamas top bowler taking 3-26.
In the second game of the day played at Haynes Oval, Suriname breezed past Turks & Caicos with a 109-run victory.
Suriname won the toss and elected to bat setting a target of 263 runs in 50 overs. While there were no large scores, eight batsmen reached double figures with wicket-keeper Anthony Seeraj top scoring with 49 not out.
Turks & Caicos stumbled in its run-chase losing wickets at regular intervals to be dismissed for 154 in the 35th over. Opener Errion Charles put on a tremendous display scoring 70 runs (including 10 fours) to be the top scorer for the side.
For Suriname, Terbhawan Ranjit bowled brilliantly capturing 6-41 in 7.2 overs and was awarded the Man of the Match for his efforts.
The third day of the tournament will see Brazil playing Suriname at the Haynes Oval, while Turks & Caicos takes on the home side Bahamas at Windsor Park. Source: ICC
