National Dress:

The female white cotton dress reflects our humble past as farmers & plantation works. The male shirt and pants reflect our historic past as salt rakers and fisherman. The straw hats were made from the silver palm top leaf that grow all over the Caicos Islands and was used by everyone as protection from the heat of the sun. To identify a person’s island home land, look to the colour of the woman scarf and waist sash and to the man’s band on his hat. This solid colour corresponds to one of the islands where they were born but anyone can choose to wear any colour to display their national pride and love for the Turks and Caicos. The order of the colours and islands move from east to west, sunrise to sunset. The National Dress/costume was unveiled during the Queens Jubilee 2002 and was designed by the director of Culture, Mr. David Bowen based on an idea put forward boy Cultural Information Officer, Ms. Valerie Jennings. Colours and meaning of the national dress are as follows:
  • Yellow - God's glory as the sun shining down on all 40 Islands and Cays.
  • Red - Grand Turk the Capital. The colour represents the Turks Head Cactus our National plant and name sake.
  • White - Salt Cay. The colour white represents salt and the salt industry of the Turks islands.
  • Orange - South Caicos & East Caicos. The colour orange represents the Caicos Lobster and our fishing industry.
  • Tan - Middle Caicos. The colour Tan represents farming and straw Craftwork.
  • Green - North Caicos & parrot Cay. The color green represents the vegetation, fertile lands and plantation.
  • Turquoise - Providenciales & West Caicos. Turquoise represents our beautiful ocean and our newest industry tourism.
  • Pink - The remaining islands & cays. Pink represents the conch shell and flamingos.
National Anthem: "God Save The Queen"

God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen

National Song: "This Land Of Ours"

Oh we salute this land of ours
Our Country we Declare
This Promise Land, with it's beauties grand
Through small it is our own.

CHO: Turks and Caicos, Turks and Caicos
Our Country Firm and Free
Our Allegiance, Turks and Caicos,
We pledge and we affirm.

From east, west north and south
Our banks and oceans meet
Surrounding sands and hills of glee
Our pristine beauties see

Our people forged and blend
with multiplicity
Of race and kind and creed and tongue
United by our goals

We stand with courage brave
To maintain this land of ours
With islands scattered here and there
With trust in God we stand.
