 Hon. Seymour is serving his first term of political office as the opposition appointed member to the legislative council and serves as a member of the Public Accounts Committee and the Expenditure Committee of the legislative council. In his short time in the Legislative Council Hon. Seymour has developed a reputation of being meticulous, conscientious and a prudent defender of the rights and assets of the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
From his first day in the legislative council he has urged his colleagues to let the test of all that is done in the Legislative Council be a simple one; Is it good for the people of the Turks and Caicos Island?
In October 2005 Hon. Seymour assumed the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Movement on a mandate of Returning Power to the People.
During his tenure he has espoused strong views on restructuring the education system in the TCI, creating a culture of ownership among Turks and Caicos Islanders, creating a sound environment for business to flourish based upon merit rather than political interference and has a taken strong stand against crime and government corruption to name a few issues.
To his end he has brought his own Integrity in Public Life (Anti-Corruption) Bill, which was voted against by the government. |
